March – April

Sri Rama Navami

Nine days of celebration with poojas each day, Sita Rama Kalyanam on the ninth, and Vasthosthavam after it.

How it is observed

  1. Nine days of poojas

Special alankaram morning and evening, with bhajans and harikatha. Each day a different family takes on the naivedyam and the annadanam.

  2. Sita Rama Kalyanam

The kalyanam is held on the ninth day. The whole village offers thalambralu, and annadanam follows.

  3. Vasthosthavam

The celebration that follows the kalyanam. The deity is taken in procession and the village elders offer harathi.
