The festival that brings the whole village home. Bogi mantalu, Makara Sankranthi, and then Ankalamma thalli's chariot.
How it is observed
Bogi mantalu
Bogi fires are lit in every street before dawn. Old things go into the fire to welcome the new year, and bogi pandlu are poured over the children.
Makara Sankranthi
Large muggulu and gobbemmalu in front of every house. Pongali and ariselu from the new rice. Offerings to the elders and tarpanam for the ancestors.
Ankalamma Rathotsavam
The goddess's chariot goes through every street. Harathi and pongali naivedyam in front of each house, and the whole village pulls the chariot together.
